ADVICE FOR GIRLS: AN ALL-WOMEN SKI FILM

Advice for Girls: An All-Women Ski Film is the 2023 feature-length all-women snow film debut from Moonrise. The film was the first feature-length ski movie to feature an all-women crew both in front of and behind the lens.

Advice for Girls quickly found its place as an essential piece of ski media, premiering to a sold-out show in Salt Lake City in October 2023. The film went on to have more than 30 sold-out shows on its flagship tour.

With more than 10,000 audience members across the United States and hundreds of merchandise sales, the film served as a valuable proving ground: audiences are craving deep, relatable, aspirational storytelling that highlights women in the outdoor space.

“ALL-WOMEN” MEANS
ALL WOMEN.

Up-and-coming skier Addy Jacobsend knew that it was time to move forward from the “one woman is enough” mindset. She dreamt of the supportive words she wished she’d heard, penning advice to her younger self. The desire to share those words with as many women as possible grew from a journal entry into the feature-length Advice for Girls film.

The film showcases skiers across generations – from women who make first descents to young skiers poised to make their mark on the slopes. With an intersectional cast featuring all types of women–women of color, queer women, women with disabilities, and more–the crew hopes that everyone can find someone in the film to connect to. Advice for Girls is also proud to be the first feature-length ski film to feature transgender women.

YOU’RE GOING TO WANT ONE OF THESE.

With the artwork of Moonrise team member and illustrator Katie Cooney, our team created long-lasting, take-home touchpoints with Advice for Girls audience members in the form of limited-edition merchandise.

The film’s first batch of merchandise – hats, stickers, and long-sleeve tees – sold out within the first two weeks of the tour, prompting an immediate re-order and further underscoring the audience's desire for a new, more relatable brand to connect with in the ski industry.
